The annual fundraiser has generated over $200,000 in scholarships for Virginia students.
SALEM – The 18th Annual Blue Ridge Open Charity Golf Classic will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Hanging Rock Golf Course in Salem, Virginia. Since 2012, this event has helped to raise scholarship funds for the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association Foundation (VRLTAF), which rewards deserving Virginia students in our region who are committed to the hospitality and travel industries.
“The Blue Ridge Open Charity Golf Classic is more than just a day on the greens; it’s an opportunity to invest in the future of Virginia’s hospitality industry,” says Eric Terry, President of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association (VRLTA). “Tourism is an economic catalyst for the Commonwealth, and by participating in this event you’re directly supporting scholarships that nurture our next generation of hospitality leaders.”

Started by Virginia’s Blue Ridge Hospitality Association in 2007, proceeds from this event have generated over $200,000 in scholarships for local students majoring in hospitality-related fields. As the tournament continues to expand, the Foundation looks to grow the number of students who can benefit from the program.
