This year, the Virginia ProStart Invitational introduced individual competitions for cake decorating, chicken fabrication, and napkin folding.
HARRISONBURG – This year we introduced individual competitions to the Virginia ProStart Invitational programming, and saw 34 student competitors rise to the challenge! The Cake Decorating, Chicken Fabrication, and Napkin Folding competitions were a blast for students and spectators alike - and we'd like to congratulate the students below for their wins:
CAKE DECORATING:

Winner: Paula Lopez-Landeo, Arlington Career Center
Instructor: Renee Randolph
Fun Fact: Paula took home the cake decorating competition by showing off several different piping methods in her design. All of the compeitors were tasked with decorating a cake in celebration of our lead judge's birthday - and Paula's stood out among the rest. Â

CHICKEN FABRICATION:

Winner: Alex Thai, Falls Church High School
Instructor: Dustin Payne
Fun Fact: Alex may have taken home the win in the chicken fabrication competition, but it was far from his only event during VPSI. This driven competitor showed up for all three individual competitions, and was also captain of the Falls Church culinary team.Â

NAPKIN FOLDING:

Winner: Aiden Kerr, Isle of Wight County High Schools Team II
Instructor: Scott Horne
Fun Fact: As winner of the napkin folding competition, Aiden and his fold will be featured on the homepage of Virginia Linen Service, one of our valued Virginia ProStart Invitational sponsors.Â
